PROFESSIONALISM AMONG ACADEMICIANS: A LITERATURE REVIEW

ABSTRACT

UKM is committed to be a leading university that pioneers innovation in the construction of knowledge to achieve the aspiration of producing a society imbued with dynamic, learned and civic leadership. In achieving the vision, professionalism among staff, particularly the academicians is deemed to be primary concern. In building understanding about professionalism among academicians, one needs to be well-grounded in related literature. This article offers review of related literature on professionalism among academicians from 1999. Among the issues emerged from the literature are perception of academicians towards teaching profession, professional development, enhancement of teaching profession, and ethical challenges.
